ER Veterinarians
Olga van Beek, DVM
Practice Limited to Emergency & Critical Care
Dr. van Beek received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and her DVM from Virginia Tech and is a current member of the AVMA, VVMA, and VECCS. She has been a practicing veterinarian since 1990 and has been at VRCC as one of the owners since its inception in 1997. Dr. van Beek’s focus is on emergency medicine.
When Dr. van Beek is not working, she enjoys gardening (both at home and at the hospital), spending time with her children, and rescuing animals.
Carly Naff, DVM
Practice Limited to Emergency & Critical Care
Dr. Carly Naff graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She moved to Virginia shortly after graduation and has practiced here ever since. Her interests include emergency medicine, immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, and emerging treatments for infectious diseases. In her spare time, she also enjoys working at the shelter and going to breweries.
Recently married, she shares her home with her husband and their multi-animal growing household, including her two Labrador retrievers, Kodiak and Kirby, a pitbull named Samson, two ball pythons, Sid and Kara, and a tortoise, Tortuga.
Internists
Edward Fallin DVM, MS, DACVIM
Dr. Fallin received both his Masters and Doctor of Veterinary Science from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as completing his residency there. He is a current member of the ACVIM, AVMA, VVMA, Veterinary Cancer Society, and Comparative Respiratory Society.
Dr. Fallin’s professional interests include oncological clinical trials, cardiology, endoscopy, and ultrasound. His personal hobbies include coaching soccer and farming.
Neurology
Jeff Clarke, DVM, DACVIM
Dr. Clarke is originally from Vienna, Virginia, but his family relocated to north Florida when he was eight years old. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of Florida, he graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Clarke completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in 2002. He spent three years in small animal general practice in Jacksonville, Florida, before pursuing his interest in veterinary neurology. Dr. Clarke completed a three-year residency in neurology and neurosurgery at North Florida Neurology in 2008 and has been a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) in the field of neurology since 2008. Dr. Clarke has a special interest in seizure management, intervertebral disc disease, and spinal subarachnoid cysts.
Surgeons
Peter Trevor, BVSc, MS, MRCVS, DACVS, DECVS
Dr. Trevor received his Veterinary Degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, a Masters degree at Virginia Tech, completed an Internship at Texas A&M, and did his Surgical Residency at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
He is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, American Veterinary Medical Association, Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, Society for Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery, Veterinary Orthopedic Society and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Trevor’s professional interests include all aspects of orthopedic, soft tissue, and neurologic surgery, including ligament reconstruction, total hip replacement, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Born and raised in central and southern Africa, he spends his spare time farming and raising Red Angus cattle.
Anna Aman, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Aman received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the North Carolina State University in 2007. She went on to complete a rotating internship at Colorado State University VTH and a surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, Texas. Her surgical residency was completed at the Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Aman’s professional memberships include the VVMA, AVMA, ACVS, Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery, the Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology, AO North America, and the Humane Society. She also does volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity.
Professional interests include oncologic surgery, minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery, and surgery of the knee, including torn ACLs and kneecap luxation. She also has a strong interest in regenerative medicine, including stem cell therapy and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy.
When she is not working at VRCC, Dr. Aman enjoys hiking, running, water sports, reading, snow skiing, concerts, and just generally being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Timothy Schneider, DVM
Practice Limited to Surgery
Dr. Schneider received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a Small Animal Rotating Medicine and Surgery Internship and Small Animal Surgery Residency at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine.
He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Schneider’s professional interests include wound care and reconstruction, hepatobiliary surgery, and minimally invasive surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Schneider enjoys woodworking, endurance sports (running, cycling, triathlons), and scale modeling.
Rehabilitation
Karen Grove, LVT, CCRP
Karen Grove has been with VRCC since we opened in 1997. She is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in 1988. She worked at a day practice for 12 years before pursuing a career in specialty medicine. While she is trained in every area of the hospital, Karen worked mainly in Internal Medicine for 15 years and assisted with medication studies. She became our Operations Manager in 2014, overseeing the training of our technician students.
Karen completed the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner program at the University of Tennessee in August 2018.
In her free time, Karen enjoys working out, hiking, running, and competing in equine endurance races. She has six pets, including three cats, two dogs named Virginia and Pi, and two horses, Bailey and Ida.
